Ayrmer Cove
26 February, 2007
Ayrmer Cove, near Ringmore village just south east of Plymouth. I had planned to go to Westcombe Beach having seen a write-up in a recent Outdoor Photography mag viewpoint. Ayrmer is the next cove to Westcombe and is reached via a mile long muddy bridlepath. It was very windy, sunny, cloudy and the waves were crashing. Immediately I was drawn to the fin-like rock. It's actually quite close to camera and is about 10 feet high but the wide angle has distorted the distance. I could spend ages here.

This is a 55 second long exposure taken at about 2:00pm. I framed to exclude the sun, stopped down to f/22, used ISO50 and engaged mirror lock-up. Then focused, clicked to lock the mirror up and whacked on the B+W 10 stop ND filter and opened the shutter with a shutter release cable. Tomorrow I have a normal shot for comparison.

Swan at Mute.
